Getting Ready For A Show

On Friday we'll be showing stained glass at the Brittany Golden Studio in Sugar House. Brittany is a wonderful jeweler and her website is an inspiration to me http://www.brittanygolden.com/  She was the one who introduced us to Weebly and that's how we began to rewrite all our websites into one. Her studio is at 1115 E and 2100 S, SLC Utah 84106 We''l be there friday from 6 till 9.

And here's a shot of the whole stack of windows ready to go in the car. A flat stack of eleven panels is just not that cool looking.

Dance Of Life Stained Glass Install Celebration

Lynde Mott suggested that the Firebird music by Stravinsky by played during our final install of the "Dance Of Life" stained glass project. We started building it in the middle of the summer and 7 months later, in the winter, it was complete.

Jeanne filmed all of the clips used in this video and designed several variations for this window. As the project continued, the customer made suggestions and was never afraid of color.

Christopher, our son, was instrumental in helping this install go well and Dane, our other son, helped a great deal as I built the panels.

This is the kind of project we dream about. One where the client wants beauty and is unafraid of the concept, in fact pushes us for more color and comes up with stories that push the design even further. Cost was never an issue, we hope you enjoy this presentation of our work.

First Of Five Panels Installed

Christopher was kind enough to come help with the install of the first of five panels in a Provo home. The project is a total of 85 square feet of glass and now that the first is in place, we're confident that we'll be able to complete the rest.

It's a big project. It took a month to build this first one, I'm hoping to cut that time down now that we have all the materials on hand.

Stained Glass in a Headboard

Now this was an unusual project. We've never done a headboard before.

The friend who came to pick it up was afraid it might get broken in his pickup truck. So the clients called around. Top bid was $1800 by a moving company. They would build a wooden crate, pack it up in bubble wrap and ship it the 10 miles to their home.

Uhaul would rent a truck for $250 and sell them wrapping and packing materials for another $250.

While our client talked to me on the phone (she was a talker) I measured my trailer and discovered that it would fit (just barely) with a few modifications.

So I bought plywood, cut it to 6 feet, screwed it to the trailer and then layered 1" foam, the bed frame and more 1" foam and then used bungee cords to secure the load. I delivered it the next day. They were shocked that I showed up fifteen minutes after I called.

It got there safe and sound and looked great!

The Chipboard House

We went to meet a client the other day to measure for stained glass. It was a little surprising when we arrived to the home and found a chipboard box. No finishing details yet. So we're a long way from actually being able to measure for windows. At least we're talking to the home owner early in the project.

Elk Window

I've metioned the Elk window we've been working on on facebook. It's really looking good. I think the client will really like the great colors. Jeanne spent a lot of time and care picking the colors so they would be realistic.
